It’s almost 2019! Yikes!! And, I’ve had time to reflect, evaluate and yes…look towards 2019 with excitement and anticipation! Thank you for partnering with me and helping SD Events create exceptional experiences for our clients! It has been an amazing year and it wouldn’t have been possible without the work that we do together.
I wanted to let you know about some of the amazing clients I’ve worked with this past year. Our work together has helped these organizations to be successful. Check them out!
First Tee of Greater Kansas City: This small organization provides a safe and fun environment for the young people of our community. They use the sport of golf to help students learn valuable life skills such as respect, sportsmanship, confidence and much more. In the last four years, they have grown the number of program sites by more than 300%.
Kansas City Urban Youth Academy: This great facility has been built with the help of many community partners including the Kansas City Royals, JE Dunn, CBIZ and many others. They opened their doors (or rather their fences) in the fall of 2017. They have been growing and thriving ever since. They are located in the heart of our urban community in the backyard of the historical 18th & Vine District. They strive to create character-building experiences for all youth in the Midwest using the sports of baseball and softball as a platform.
Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC): This impactful organization is revitalizing the downtown neighborhoods of Kansas City, KS. They are focused on 7 different neighborhoods around the KCK area and have been rebuilding affordable housing for 20 years. They offer much more than just housing such as financial education, loans and other services that help residents afford a great home in a great neighborhood.
Kansas City Sports Commission and Foundation: This behind-the-scenes organization has been leading the community in all things sports for 50 years. They own and operate the Kansas City Marathon and have been the epicenter for a variety of other large events including the 2015 Kansas City Royals World Series Parade and the 2016 Urban Youth Academy Relay the Way.
WIN for KC: Women’s Intersport Network (WIN) for KC is celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2019. They provide programming and advocacy for women and girls in sports in the Greater Kansas City area. They produce amazing events that inspire, empower and grow opportunities for women and girls through sports
Girls on the Run of Greater Kansas City: This organization is a council within a larger, national organization that provides an educational curriculum for girls by using a running program. The structure includes coaches who work with the students regularly throughout the season to build their confidence and reach their inner potential through the sport of running.
Band of Angels: These angels fundraise and collect used musical instruments and put them in the hands of children in our community who cannot afford to purchase or rent instruments. This amazing organization finds unique and fabulous ways to get instruments in the hands of a student with a desire to learn and excel as a musician. For these students, it’s so important that they get to learn on an instrument that is a quality piece and something they are proud of in order to build their confidence and skills.
