Yes, it might feel like your wedding day — a crazy mix of excitement, nerves and exhaustion too. I bet you never thought the day would get here (honestly, sometimes event planning can get like that), but for you, it’s finally here!

Your guests or participants are excited and they are ready to take in the fantastic experience you have planned. Your staff and volunteers are excited to help execute all the plans you have worked so hard to implement.

LET’S DO IT!

Some say, this is what you’ve worked so hard to accomplish…that might be true for some people. Some event planners truly love the details, collaboration and the logistics that go into the planning.  Some event planners love the last hour of the event knowing they have done their best.  Regardless of what you find important about the event, here are some tips for your day as you experience it one hour at a time:

  • When things aren’t quite right or we’re running behind, be sure to engage your staff and volunteers.  They are there to help and want to be part of solutions.
  • Keep the end in mind. When things aren’t going well and you’re constantly having to redirect and re-evaluate, keep the end in mind.  Keep your goals in mind and know that your decisions will ultimately affect the end result, not the next immediate steps.
  • Always keep that smile and sense of humor handy.  You’re going to need it whether someone is paying you a compliment or something isn’t going quite right.  Keep your wits about you and stay the course.

This is a good day and be sure to be gracious and humble as you walk (or run) through this day.  ENJOY!
