At this point in your planning, you may not even realize how close you are to “THE” day!  Your head is down, you keep plugging away and some things are falling into place and some things are…well…not.

Here are two critical pieces to consider at this time of your planning:

  1. The time for new ideas is probably over.  Depending on the scale and scope of your event, the time for new ideas and implementing something different at your event is probably closed (yes, the train has left the station at this point).  By now, the relationships and sales pitches that are needed for new ideas realistically can’t happen effectively in this tight timeframe.

So…it’s time to move on with what you had originally or scrap it all together.  Chalk it up to ‘you tried’ and keep it in mind for next year.  The idea is not dead but it is sleeping for now.

2.  Get your VIPs and key guests invited so they have your event reserved on their calendar!  There is nothing more important than having the right people at your event or involved with your project.  Now is the time to secure them and confirm them.

Now, let me be clear…this is NOT the time to ask them.  The ask and invitation to them should have happened a few weeks ago (maybe even months, depending on who you’re talking to).  However, you will want to be following up with those folks who are important to the event/project.  These are VIPs, stakeholders, potential donors/funders and others who are great advocates for your work.

Get those calendars updated, confirmed and secured.

Don’t worry! You’re doing great! Keep working hard and push through these last few weeks!
